California : one of the most prestigious names in the catalogue of the manufacturer from Maranello, corresponding to the most beautiful cabriolets produced by the marque in the 1960s which are the most highly sought after and expensive road-going Ferrari today. The name appeared once again at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008, for this model which represented a new formula for Ferrari, that of the "Coupéé-cabriolet". A clever system allowed the hardtop to disappear into the boot, without affecting the race-car proportions of its styling. The chassis and the body were made entirely of aluminium, to limit the weight of this exceptional machine. Beneath the bonnet was an engine it deserved, a 4.3-litre V8 engine producing 460 bhp at 7 500 rpm, with breathtaking acceleration : the California went from 0 to 100 km/h in some 4 seconds and had a top speed of 310 km/h. Carbon brakes were fitted to deal adequately with this extraordinary performance.

The first owner of the Ferrari California on offer, a company in Luxembourg, bought the car in January 2010 from Charles Pozzi, in Levallois. It was subsequently bought by its second owner in January 2013, who in turn sold it to the person selling the car today. With just 33 100 km on the clock, it is presented in impeccable, almost new condition, with immaculate " Rosso Corsa " paintwork and perfect upholstery. The car has been regularly maintained at Charles Pozzi, as recorded in the service book, and the last service was carried out in July 2015 when the mileage was 31 161 km. As expected, it comes with the documentation and accessories it had from new: toolkit, set of two keys, manuals and books (assistance, service, " infotainment " system, engine etc), all in correct folders.
Moreover, this car's specification makes it particularly desirable. It benefits from various original options, including Daytona seats, 20-inch Diamond-finish wheels, carbon-colour roof and yellow brake calipers. Of special interest, this car is believed to be one of only five examples built with manual transmission, (featuring the handsome gear lever in the famous Ferrari grill). Only two of these were left-hand drive, the one on offer and the other which is preserved at the Ferrari museum. During a test-drive on the road, we were impressed by the suppleness of the clutch and smoothness of the gearbox which is descended from the 360 Modena. Here is a very special car, offering an outstanding performance and unrivalled appeal for those collectors looking for something very rare.
