Inspired by the success of the 550 Barchetta, Ferrari engineers developed a convertible version of the 575 Maranello called the 575 Superamerica, to pay homage to Ferrari's 50 years in the USA. It has the same engine as the 575M Maranello which produces 540hp. The top speed is quite fierce and goes to 320 km/h. Engineers also introduced a highly innovative removable hardtop. It is a carbon fibre and electrochromic glass panel that rotates and rests itself on the bootlid consequently not reducing the latter's volume space. Just like its predecessor, the 575 Superamerica was introduced as a limited edition: Only 559 units were manufactured during the two years of production.
This specific example was sold new in Belgium in October 2005 and is fitted with the desirable HGTC Handling package which includes controlled suspension, a lightened exhaust and also large diameter carbon-ceramic brakes. Its current owner, a major Ferrari enthusiast known to have had 25 of these cars in 28 years, purchased it in 2006 when the car only had 953 km on the clock. It now has of 39,319 km and includes a large folder of invoices which documents the cars particular maintenance. Its elegant Silverstone grey paint over the superb tan leather interior makes the whole car stand out. For sale with its logbooks and duplicate keys, this incredibly well-maintained example is an exceptional opportunity for both collectors and thrill seekers alike.
