OVERVIEW

In 2017 when Motor Trend proclaimed the Ferrari 488 as the “Best Driver’s Car” it was just one of many awards this Ferrari had already achieved. Top Gear magazine named it “The Supercar of the Year” even though the 488 was competing with heady competition in the performance field. Distinguished as the first Ferrari offered since the epic F40 featuring a mid-engine design housing a twin turbocharged V8, the immediate comparisons were certainly obvious, but the two cars could not have been more radically different.

The remarkable performance, 0-60 in 3.0 seconds and a quarter mile time of 10.45 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph, were enough to impress even experts familiar with cars of this stature. But it was the combination of performance and exceptional ease of use that truly vaulted the 488 into a league of its own. With its 661hp engine and unbeatable stability, the Ferrari 488 has become quite simply, the best, most technically balanced and drivable Ferrari road car ever built.

Designed to take advantage of aerodynamics leveraging unique high volume airflow areas that increase downforce, cool internal systems, and efficiently push out troublesome turbulent air, the 488 uses a range of spoilers, intakes, and tunnels to regulate air flow and positively control downforce. Underbody vortex generators, rear-end diffusers, and diverted split side air chambers aiding turbo cooling perform careful air management in a delicate balance of air management that provides added performance, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced stability. Even the door handles cleverly feature a design specifically shaped to properly divert air.

The 488 Spider features a folding top that raises and lowers under power assist, transforming the completely closed car into a fully open convertible in a matter of seconds. For added enjoyment, the roof can stay in the up position, but the rear window can be fully lowered so that glorious mid-engine sounds can be enjoyed from the sealed cabin without inviting excessive exterior elements into the cabin. Cleverly designed not only for performance, the 488 features a surprisingly roomy front trunk that allows space for more than weekend luggage as well as a nicely detailed plaque featuring all the options ordered on a particular car.

This particular example was purchased new and delivered to the first and only owner in May 2017, with an MSRP of $344,594.00, finished in Rosso Corsa with black leather interior and black floor mats. Currently showing 9,639 miles, this one owner car has been dealer serviced since day one and has been covered with paint protection film since new. In addition to the numerous factory options and special equipment ordered on this car when built, the owner commissioned a discrete installation of a $5,000.00 radar detector on the car. Exemplary in every respect, this 488 Spider has been cared for since new and still retains all the qualities and characteristics of a new Ferrari. The exterior condition is beautiful throughout with factory paint and bodywork displaying excellent fit and finish in all respects, with only minor signs of use.

Cosmetically the car is stunning at every corner with excellent trim, beautiful glass, stunning clear lenses and massive 20” wheels with top level Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The color matched brake calipers clutch enormous disc brakes at all four corners, with matching yellow center emblems and Scuderia Ferrari shields prancing on the front fenders. With the top retracted and the spider configuration revealed, the car takes on a new dimension particularly at the wide rear segment of the car revealing the muscular haunches, sophisticated intake and exhaust vents and chambers that so efficiently cool and channel air throughout the mid-engine compartment.

With the top down and stowed under the smoothly articulated rear deck panel, the interior reveals the same design excellence and sporting innovation that compliments the exterior of the car. The special equipment red side seat inserts, red Cavallino headrest stitching, and red interior accent stitching make for a truly uniquely optioned car, all of which can be adored from your multi-directional power adjustable seats. The interior is both race-inspired and elegant. The steering wheel is loaded with nearly every dynamic control one might need to activate while engaged in sporting driving. Inspired by F1 steering wheels where milliseconds matter in decision making, the central instrument pod is visible in direct line with the LED steering wheel shift indicator lights that cleverly nest inside the steering wheel rim. All surfaces have been cared for since new and continue to show as one might expect from a car of such distinction.

Though miles have been kept to a minimum we’ve driven the car briefly and can confidently report that it lives up to every glowing review that has been offered on these cars. Road manners are surprisingly easy going when driving in general traffic, and yet the car can explode within an instant on throttle up to highway speeds in a matter of seconds and return to a safe stop just as urgently without annoying chassis shudder or drift in tracking. Even parking is simplified with optional front and rear parking sensors and parking camera. Every aspect of the performance is superlative and simply without peer. Additional items included with the car include, a car cover, factory issued owners folio wiith manuals, and two keys.
