The Ferrari 488 took the world by storm after its debut in 2015, succeeding the triumphant 458 Italia. The 488 maintained a similar profile to that of the 458, however it now features a more muscular design in order to increase overall downforce. An all new double front splitter provides increased radiator cooling as well as channelling air through the underbody more efficiently. The car now features an integrated rear spoiler, which increases downforce without requiring a raised rear wing. The rear diffuser has now been enlarged to increase velocity of air exiting the underbody to further lower air pressure, in conjunction with active aerodynamic variable flaps that both reduce drag and increase downforce as controlled by a microprocessor. Now having a larger diffuser, the 488’s twin exhausts are positioned higher in the rear bumper for clearance. The side intakes have great functionality, but also pay homage to those found on the 308 GTB and are divided by a central partition. Air entering the top section is partially directed into the turbo charger compressor intake, while the rest is directed through the rear of the car and exits alongside the rear lights, increasing air pressure behind the car in order to reduce aerodynamic drag.

The most notable part of the 488 is its all-new 3.9 litre twin turbocharged V8 engine which produces an astonishing 660 horsepower. Coupled with the lightning fast F1 DCT gearbox, the 488 is capable of achieving 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds!

The 488 Spider debuted at the Frankfurt Motor show in September 2015 and features a folding hardtop, similar to that of its predecessor. It maintains all of the original components and performance figures of the GTB.
