En signant, en 1972, le dessin de la Ferrari 365 GT/4, qui allait devenir la Ferrari 400, Pininfarina montre tout son talent : la ligne est sobre, élégante, hors du temps et traduit parfaitement le statut élevé de cette sportive de luxe. A tel point que, de la 365 GT/4 à la 412, ce modèle a connu une carrière exceptionnellement longue, ne disparaissant du catalogue de la marque qu'en 1989. Son habitacle spacieux, confortable et luxueusement fini est tendu de cuir jusqu'au ciel de toit, alors que son moteur 12 cylindres associé à la boite automatique à trois rapports Hydramatic de General Motors lui confèrent un couple et une allonge encore jamais vu sur une GT de sa catégorie.

Livrée neuve le 15 septembre 1983 à Hambourg cette Ferrari 400i fait partie des 873 exemplaires équipés de la boite automatique sur les 2 167 produits entre 1978 et 1984. (153 exemplaires pour le millésime 83). Magnifiquement restaurée entre 2015 et 2017, elle affiche un peu plus de 63 000 km au compteur. Extérieurement, la carrosserie a été entièrement repeinte dans sa teinte d’origine et peu courante Celeste Metallizzato. Les alignements sont impeccables tout comme les jantes repeinte également et montées avec des Michelin TRX neufs. La sellerie a quant à elle été intégralement refaite chez Luppi en Italie pour un montant de 7 000 € en respectant scrupuleusement les détails de finition propre au millésime 83 avec des sièges au cuir lisse et plissé. Le tableau de bord, le ciel de toit, les contre-portes et les moquettes ont également été refaits dans la même teinte de cuir blu scuro (VM 3282) d’origine. Au final, l’alliance de ces deux teintes de bleu est superbe est met en valeur les lignes tendues de ce coupé 2+2. Matching number, cette voiture dispose de son certificat Ferrari mais aussi de son carnet d’entretien, de ses manuels d’origine ainsi que la copie de la première carte grise !
Révisée en 2016, l’ensemble des trains roulants ont été changés avec le remplacement des amortisseurs, des silentblocs, des rotules et des barres stabilisatrices. Lors de notre essai routier, nous avons été surpris par le comportement de cette GT pesant plus 1.5 tonnes. Les 310 cv sont bien présents et la boite de vitesse automatique ne bride aucunement le plaisir de conduite, bien au contraire, elle apporte un grand confort de conduite sans brider les performances de l’auto. Aussi bien en courbe rapide que sur routes sinueuses avec un revêtement bosselé, la voiture reste précise, parfaitement guidée grâce à une direction assistée remontant parfaitement les informations de la route. Quant au freinage, si l’on sent bien que l’auto pèse son poids, ce dernier s’avère tout à fait à la hauteur de l’ensemble. Plus récemment encore, la recharge de la climatisation et une vidange ont été effectuées. Une belle affaire à ce prix compte tenu des frais colossaux investis dans cette auto !

By signing off, in 1972, the design of the Ferrari 365 GT/4, which was to become the Ferrari 400, Pininfarina showed all his talent: the line is sober, elegant, timeless and perfectly translates the high status of this luxury sports car. So much so that, from the 365 GT/4 to the 412, this model had an exceptionally long career, only disappearing from the brand's catalog in 1989. Its spacious, comfortable and luxuriously finished interior is upholstered in leather right up to the headliner, while its 12-cylinder engine combined with General Motors' Hydramatic three-speed automatic gearbox gives it torque and agility never before seen in a GT car of its class.

Delivered new on September 15, 1983 in Hamburg, this Ferrari 400i is one of 873 examples equipped with the automatic transmission out of the 2,167 produced between 1978 and 1984. (153 examples for the model year 83). Beautifully restored between 2015 and 2017, it has just over 63,000 km on the clock. Externally, the bodywork has been fully repainted in its original and uncommon Celeste Metallizzato hue. The alignments are impeccable as well as the repainted wheels mounted with new Michelin TRX tires. The upholstery has been completely redone at Luppi in Italy for an amount of 7,000 €, respecting scrupulously the finishing details of the 83 vintage with smooth and pleated leather seats. The dashboard, the roof lining, the doors and the carpets have also been redone in the same shade of blu scuro leather (VM 3282). In the end, the combination of these two shades of blue is superb and enhances the taut lines of this 2+2 coupe. Matching numbers, this car has its Ferrari certificate but also its maintenance booklet, its original manuals as well as the copy of the first registration title!

Overhauled in 2016, all the running gear has been changed with the replacement of shocks, silentblocks, ball joints and stabilizer bars. During our road test, we were surprised by the behavior of this GT weighing over 1.5 tons. The 310 hp are very much alive and the automatic gearbox does not limit the driving pleasure, on the contrary, it brings a great driving comfort without limiting the performances of the car. Both in fast curves and on winding roads with a bumpy surface, the car remains precise, perfectly guided thanks to a power steering system that perfectly picks up information from the road. As for the braking, even if you can feel that the car weighs its weight, it proves to be up to the task. Even more recently, the air conditioning was reloaded and oil changed. A great deal at this price considering the numerous expenses invested in this car!
