Description

1991 Ferrari 348 TS

- Manufactured in April 1991
- Finished in its original colour combination of Rosso Corsa and black leather interior
- Sold new in Aachen, Germany by Auto Becker of Dusseldorf, and latterly residing in Italy
- Purchased by McGrath Maserati in September 2015 upon its arrival in England and owned by us since
- Enjoyed sparingly and maintained superlatively by Ferrari specialists Emblem Sportscars in Poole
- An excellent example with just 59,100 kilometres (36,700 miles) on the odometer

The 348 series is really the blueprint for all modern mid-engined Ferraris. After the transverse engined 308/328 series, the 348 was an all-new car for the 1990s which sold well with over 8,800 produced between 1989 and 1994 and paved the way for the F355 that followed.

We have always liked the 348, with its mini-Testarossa looks. It has a Miami Vice retro cool about it that is right up our boulevard. We purchased this particular 348 TS in September 2015 within days of it arriving in England with only 58,600 kilometres recorded on the odometer.

Delivered new by Auto Becker in Dusseldorf, Germany in May 1991 to an enthusiast in Aachen, maintenance was initially carried out by Auto Becker and subsequently by Maranello Motors GmbH of Koln. During its more recent years in Italy the car was maintained by Officine Foresi in Civitanova Marche, it has however seen little use since 2010. The original service book and instruction manual are present with the car.

This car was in excellent, unmolested and original condition, with the temptation to uprate/update thankfully having been resisted by previous owners, and with all the interior detailing as good as it gets. But it was in need of the all-important cam belt service.

We entrusted this service to our friends at independent Ferrari Specialists Emblem Sports Cars in Poole and they carried out a complete, engine-out in-depth service of the car during the winter months of December 2015 and January 2016. We took the opportunity to detail the engine bay and re-powder coat the cam covers while the engine was out and the bay now looks as fabulous as the rest of the car. At the end of the service Emblem felt that the car was a very nice example with no outstanding issues.

The car saw very minimal use with only about 140 miles covered and was soon barricaded in our storage unit by Trident bearing cars from Modena. In the summer of 2020 it was time for Maranello to fight back and the 348 was extracted from storage in June and taken again to Emblem Sportscars in Poole for another major cam-belt service and the fitting of four new tyres. Now in excellent condition and still with only 59,100 kilometres on the odometer (36,700 miles), this wonderful 348 is available for sale and ready to enjoy.
