An open-air, front-engine V12-powered Ferrari is among the top experiences in the pantheon of collectible automobiles; the Ferrari 330 GTS is one of the most sublimely executed examples of the breed. An evolution of the acclaimed 275 GTS, the 330 GTS was an elegant drop top for consumption by Ferrari’s best customers, who sought the finest automotive experience money could buy. In addition to accommodating two passengers and their luggage with ease, the 330 GTS also boasted an incredible set of performance figures. With a top speed of 150 mph and a 0-60 of 6.9 seconds, the 330 GTS could easily outpace nearly any other contemporary on the road, and with a fully independent suspension, four wheel disc brakes, Michelin XWX tires, and a transaxle configuration, the GTS would dispense of any residual hangers on once it came time to stop and turn.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October of 1966, the 330 GTS’s styling epitomized the effortless class of Pininfarina’s mid-’60s design language, from its classic nose characterized by its shallow egg-crate oval grille, triple-louvered vents on the rear flanks of the front fenders and its seductively tapered tail. The impeccable style carried through to the car’s luxuriously appointed interior, with twin leather bucket seats and a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel. With it’s remarkably spacious and comfortable accommodations, the 330 GTS was equally at home attacking a mountain pass or enjoying a high-speed cross-continent road trip.

Aside from the obvious addition of its convertible top and accompanying reinforcements and changes, the 330 GTS was highly similar to the 330 GTC coupe that had been unveiled a few months earlier at the Geneva Salon. While 598 of the 330 GTC were built in total, only 99 examples of the 330 GTS would leave Maranello, making the convertible a rare and highly coveted car. Today, these 99 cars are highly sought after by collectors for their fine driving characteristics as well as their gorgeous looks.

The Cultivated Collector’s 330 GTS, S/N 9691, was delivered new to Dr. Fortunato Gocse residing in Milano, Italy. Wearing Azzurro Metallizzato over a stunning Rosso leather interior, 9691 would remain in Italy until it was acquired by its first American owner, residing in California, in the early 70’s. 9691 would live most of its life in sunny California until the completion of its peerless, stunning restoration by Patrick Ottis & Company and Brian Hoyt in 2016. platino and People’s Choice Award winning. 9691’s bona fides as a best of the breed example were burnished by a Platino award and the People's Choice Award at Cavallino in 2017, and best in show at Concorso Italiano in 2018. 9691 retains its original, accident-free bodywork, is fully numbers matching, Classiche Certification pending, is fully documented and accident free, presented stunningly in its original colorway of Azzurro Metallizzato over Rosso, and is ready to be enjoyed as a prize of a discerning collector.
