Description
Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, it replaced the Dino 246 GT. The mid-engined entry-level Ferrari was now powered by the F016 V8 engine from the 308 GT4. The line was the work of Fioravanti for Pininfarina, designing a compact and elegant silhouette that would become iconic in the eighties.
For the first time, the body was made of fiberglass, with the exception of the front hood made of aluminum. This resulted in a lightweight sportscar quoted at 1,090kg dry. With 255hp from its 2.9L V8, it was fast at the time and still entertaining today. Using four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors and dual overhead camshaft, power was delivered at 7,700rpm through a 5-speed gearbox with a dogleg pattern
The latter models returned to steel and aluminum body and the introduction of mechanical injection made the V8 less powerful. The first series (called Vetroresina in Italian) is, therefore, the most performant and sought after.
This particular car has chassis number 19231 and was delivered new in 1976. 308 GTB used a numeration with uneven chassis numbers, so the car is very close to the first production model 18677. According to sources, 2,993 cars out of the 13,250 entire productions have the F106 AB carburetors engine, and only 808 were Vetroresina models.
Coming in a beautiful and unusual and original combination of Blu Scuro Dino paint, Rosso seats, and carpets, 19231 also has desirable options like wider wheels, air conditioning, and stereo. The car is in perfect working order and drives remarkably well.
