Sold unregistered - Prototype 308 GTS in fiberglass - Unique piece, powerful and a convertible - Eligible for the most important of Concours d'Elegances - Ferrari Classiche certification under process According to information provided by the owner, this Ferrari 308 GTS with fiberglass body was a prototype developed for the U.S. market before the steel body version came into being. It is therefore logical that it is equipped with a wet sump engine, to import it into the American market. Ferrari would have produced, at the time, four or five prototypes of this type, which were never sold and have never left Italy. This car has survived and as it is a prototype, it does not have a chassis number. This car was recovered by a collector who put on some registration numbers and used it, till it was confiscated by the Italian authorities. After several years, the car was auctioned and it is on this occasion that the previous owner acquired it in 1999 before selling it last year to the current owner, a collector of rare 308s. Today, the car is in working condition, but a proper restoration would be recommendable, allowing it to be a star at important Concours d'Elegance, as a prototype of a mythical model. This Berlinetta 308 GTS fiberglass is unique (none of the fiberglass 308 GTBs are convertibles) and was inspected by a person from Ferrari Classiche, with the certification is under process at the moment.
