Description

First unveiled by Pininfarina at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in 1957, the Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet immediately captivated the most discerning customers with its classic lines and incomparable elegance. The success of the first production of 40 cars led to a second series with more luggage space and luxurious comfort. With only about 200 of these rare beauties ever built, the 250 GT Cabriolet marked a new era in Ferrari's production program for convertibles with a folding roof.

The 250 GT Cabriolet shared the same chassis as the 250 GT 'Boano' and 'Ellena' coupes and shared the same mechanical components, such as the refined suspension, impeccable brakes and precise steering. It was built for those who respected Ferrari's racing pedigree but wanted something much more civilized, comfortable and practical than its racing counterparts. In 1959, Ferrari unveiled the second generation of this Pininfarina-bodied masterpiece, elevating it to the status of grand tourer version of the competition-based 250 California Spider.

Our stunning Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet is one of only 200 produced and was delivered to its proud first owner in Rome, Italy in 1962. The beautiful and distinctive Rosso paint color fully showcases the iconic Pininfarina design. In 2015, it was fully examined by Ferrari Classiche experts to confirm the originality of the various parts. Today, it is in excellent condition. The chassis, gearbox and engine are fully matching, as evidenced by the Classiche certification. He therefore has a red book with accompanying certificate of authenticity. In 2019, no expense was spared to fully restore this piece of Italian automotive history to original specifications. She was completely stripped down to the bare metal at the renowned specialists Bacchelli and Villa from Bastiglia to then be rebuilt during a 2-year quality restoration. The entire process cost around €300,000. The result is impressive: perfect fits, beautiful smooth surfaces and very high quality paintwork. The Pelle-beige interior was reapplied to the highest standards and the extensive restoration file with photos and invoices that comes with the car reveals the unparalleled craftsmanship that lies beneath the paintwork.

Not only does the car look like new, it drives superbly. The 4-Speed gearbox shifts effortlessly in every gear and makes the 240 thoroughbred feel perfectly responsive in every gear. Of the Ferrari 250 family, the Series II Cabriolet is undoubtedly one of the most versatile and comfortable cars, offering the best of both worlds: the powerful performance of Ferrari's iconic Colombo V-12 engine and the fun of open-top driving. This Ferrari has all the features for which the Prancing Horse is known: exceptional styling, one of the most iconic engines ever built and a beautiful sound. It feels just as at home on long coastal roads as it does on winding roads in the hills.

In short, this is your chance to own an extremely rare, Ferrari self-certified, Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet recently restored by Bacchelli and Villa and ready for many carefree miles. Available now at rock n roll classics.
