This Dino 246 GTS is in splendid condition, and a summary prepared by Matthias Bartz, the Dino specialist and author of the comprehensive work Dino Compendium, enables us to follow its history. It left the factory on 12 July 1973 and was delivered new to the distributor Parauto Snc. in Genoa, who sold it to its first owner, Sig. Mitolo. Finished in 'Rosso Chiaro' with black Skai upholstery, it had five further owners in Italy until 1993, when it was exported to Spain by Sr. Bonomi in Barcelona. Our Belgian client bought the car through a dealer from Bonomi in 2006. In the hands of its six successive owners, the car had several different registration numbers, all of which are known, including the first in Genoa: GE 558318.
When it joined its current owner's collection, it was painted black, and he decided to return it to its original 'Rosso Chiaro'. He therefore dispatched it to the Carrozzeria Granturismo Milano (later known as Carrozzeria Touring), who did a job to a stunningly high standard. The file includes some photos from this restoration, and 12 years later it has not changed one iota. The engine is every bit as good: a dyno chart shows power at the rear wheels of 180 bhp at 3250 rpm. The owner believes the mileage shown of 30,812 km to be that from new.
In its beautiful shade of red, with an immaculate interior in black and red leather, this Dino 246 GTS Spyder, supplied with its tool kit (which is incomplete), pays tribute to the aesthetic and dynamic qualities of this iconic model, masterfully designed by Pininfarina.
