Description

The Ferrari Dino was named after founder Enzo Ferrari only son, Alfredino Ferrari. He suggested his father to develop a V6 racing engine for Formula 2 in the early sixties. Enzo approved, and the very compact quad-cam V6 engine won several championships. However, the ill-fated Alfredino did not witness this success, as he died very young. It took Enzo Ferrari several years to fully recover from this tragedy, and to remember his son he put the V6 in a mid-engined sportscar and badged it Dino.
The Dino was not as fast as its V12 engined stablemates, but it had a magnificent chassis offering beautiful balance and responsive steering. Like all beautiful Ferraris, the Dino was designed by Pininfarina. The then Chief Designer Leonardo Fioravanti gave the mid-engined sportscar a sexy coke-bottle style body, which was the start of the exotic era of Ferrari design which would influence the 308/328, 512 BB, 288 GTO, F40 and Testarossa. In total, more then 3700 Dinos were produced, and nowadays it is one of the most wanted Ferrari models, and considered as an absolute design icon.
This particular RHD example from the M-series was delivered new in the UK in February 1971, and subsequently registered on the 16th of April 1971 with registration GNP777J. The first owner kept the car unitl July 1977, when it was purchased by the second and last owner until today. This makes it a two-owner Dino, with a total mileage from new of 64.099 miles. The car was restored by the second owner between 2014 and 2019, and is now in immaculate condition.
The Dino is of course full matching nrs and comes in the original and rare special order colour of Celeste Metallizzato (106-A-16) of which only 29 examples were ever built.
This is a rare find which ticks all the right boxes for any collector : rare RHD M-series, rare colour, documented two-owners history and in restored condition. Now available for viewing on appointment. Please note that this car is visible at the owners place in the Copenhagen area (Denmark).
