Why give birth to a 2-litre version when the Ferrari 308 provided complete satisfaction to customers? For tax reasons: in Italy, cars over 2 liters suffered from heavy taxes, which prompted Ferrari to launch its 208 GT in 1980, with a 2-liter V8 developing 155bhp.
The car on offer is in a good state of preservation in its "Rosso Corsa" color and its interior in beige leather and red carpets has a pleasant patina. Its pure line from the first models is the most faithful to Pininfarina's original design. It was sold new in Italy on April 7, 1981, by the Walter Bordese SRL dealer in Turin, as confirmed by its service book and today displays 68,300 km on the odometer.
The 208 GTB is a rarity, with only 160 units made, and it embodies the quintessence of Ferrari berlinettas: the atmospheric V8 engine with double overhead camshaft, in transverse position, powered by 4 Weber carburetors, mated to the manual gearbox with the legendary grid in H, in a magnificent Pininfarina designed body.
