Jean Daninos succeeded: in giving France a prestige brand after WW II, a segment of the market that the French automobile industry had vacated. With the HK 500, a high-end Coupée, Facel reached a certain consistency that would make the brand famous and successful.

Registered for the first time on January 25, 1960, this Facel HK 500 that we are offering was bought in July 1966 by a French owner from the Haute-Garonne region, and it had the registration plate number 9 QL 31. André Trigano acquired the car in March 1978 after having discovered it in a scrap metal dealership in the area. The car was in a fair condition but received a new coat of paint whose time was marked by some cracks and dents. But this Facel, with a manual gearbox, remains in a sound condition and was properly preserved. The cream leather upholstery is original and has a beautiful patina.
About a decade ago, the mechanicals were overhauled by Ariege Automobile and it was on this occasion that the fanciful colors were adopted in the engine compartment. The original appearance can be easily found back. More recently, the carburetors were serviced and electronic ignition was installed.
Currently, the meter reads 89,062 km, and the car comes with its original technical manual. It is a well-preserved example of one of the finest French GTs, and also one of the rarest since production did not exceeded 490 units. With its 345bhp engine Typhoon engine, it can still keep pace with newer cars, with an interior that can rarely be equaled in terms of refinement and quality.
