Description

Model history

Courage Compétition is a racing team and chassis constructeur company based in Le Mans, France. Yves Courage began his racing career in 1972, racing in various hillclimbs throughout the 1970’s. In 1981 he finished 1st in class 2-Liter sport at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With this success Mr. Courage decided to found his own company and began building prototype chassis. Courage’s first chassis debuted at the 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Courage C60 was a Le Mans Prototype (LMP) racing car built by Courage Compétition in 2000 and made its debut at the 2000 Silverstone 500 USA Challenge.

It was initially fitted with a 4-litre V10 engine with a 6-speed transmission. Using a carbon fibre and aluminum honeycomb monocoque resulted in a very light car weighting about 900kg.

Continuous development saw the introduction of the LMP675/LMP2 C65 variant in 2003 and the C60 Hybrid LMP1 car for 2005. Especially the C65 proved successful.

This example

The racecar we have on offer was built as a C60 but was uprated to a C65 model and raced in 2003 with Courage Competition. From 2004 to 2006 the car was owned by Paul Belmondo Racing.

This Courage C60-C65 attended 22 events in the period 2003-2008. Most of these events were endurance races such as 1000km, 6h and 24h races. This car has raced 7 times at Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans), 3 times at Autodromo Vallelunga (Rome) and Spa Francorchamps and 2 times at Intercity Istanbul Park.

Courage Compétition achieved the best result at the 2003 Le Mans 1000 Kilometres finishing 1st in class LMP675 (later LMP2) and 4th overall.

Powered by an inline-four cylinder single-turbocharged 2.0 liter engine producing over 550hp built by Advanced Engine Research (AER). AER has developed winning engines for a number of high-profile international race series.

To enter Le Mans is an great achievement and to finish the grueling 24 hours is just amazing for both driver and car.

This wonderful and very impressive LMP2 car raced among others with Paul Belmondo Racing at the 2005 Le Mans 24 Hours finishing 22th overall. It has seen very limited use in the past years after the car was revised again. Several body parts and spares accompany the car.

She is eligible for great events such as Le Mans Classic. Unique opportunity!
