Launched in Summer 1974, the CX proudly represents luxury for Citroën. With front-wheel drive transmission and hydropneumatic suspension, it was voted Car of the Year in 1975, a reward earned thanks to the talent of its creators. Robert Opron, who designed the GS which inspired it, signs its fluid and aerodynamic external line. Special features of the CX are an astonishing curved windscreen, together with a boot without tailgate despite its hatchback shape. Michel Harmand also surprises with the interior style, with the creation of a control panel all accessible without taking your hands off of the wheel. The many versions of the CX span its successful career selling nearly 1.2 million CXs during its 16 years of production. With the arrival of the Citroën XM in 1989, the CX departed in 1991.
