Description
The sublimely detailed Cadillacs of 1941 represent a watershed moment for the hallowed marque. Designed by GM styling bosses Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell, the 1941s brought the unmistakable eggcrate grille, a design that still echoes on the Cadillacs of today, over eight decades hence. Today these cars offer Full Classic status in the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA), comfortable seating for four, and fully open motoring or complete seclusion beneath a structured power top and with wind-up windows. Undeniably modern for its era, it was a winning formula.
The example on offer benefited from long-term ownership by Lloyd Needham of Ontario, Canada, prior to acquisition by its current steward, a Northeast-based collector with a passion for classics, and for the Cadillac marque, specifically. In its previous tenure, it received a high-quality repaint in the period cream hue and retrim in deep red leather, which were carried out by a respected Ontario restoration shop. In those days, it enamored the CCCA, which awarded the Cadillac a Senior First Prize and a Premier badge (1445), which it now displays. Despite its restoration now approaching 40 years in age, its standard of workmanship stands the test of time. In more recent years, work carried out has included the fitment of painted red wheels shod with whitewall tires, which enhance its overall look. This handsome 1941 Cadillac Series 62 is worthy of its “Standard of the World” slogan and is poised to please its next caretaker.
