Description

William I'Anson Ltd are excited to offer for sale the exceptional ex - Sir Malcolm Campbell, Miss Bond, Brooklands 1927 Bugatti Type 37.

It is increasingly rare to find such a well preserved, well documented, complete, original and matching example of the desirable aluminium bodied Type 37; let alone one with Brooklands competition history such as this.

Supplied new to and reputedly raced by Sir Malcolm Campbell.

Featured in the front window of Sir Malcolm’s showroom at Brooklands in March 1927 and sold to Miss Margaret Bond; who in turn entered it into the well publicised Ladies Race at Brooklands in 1928.

Fitted with a supercharged and latterly un-supercharged, Squire Anzani engine just after the War, it competed in the first post-War meeting at Prescott in 1946 and Silverstone in 1947.

Reunited with its original engine in 1953.

Still remarkably retaining most of its original body, bar the bonnet that had to be replaced due to the modifications to fit the Anzani engine.

A delight to drive, light, fast and agile the wonderfully proportioned, the Type 37 has continued to prove itself as the ideal choice for a wide array of prestigious events and relies such as the Mille Miglia, Monaco Historics and Goodwood.
