Der BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition

Zwei Jahre nach seinem ersten Titelgewinn sicherte sich BMW M4 Pilot Marco Wittmann (DE) beim Saisonfinale 2016 auf dem Hockenheimring erneut den Fahrertitel in der DTM. Zu Ehren dieses Erfolges legt BMW M die BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition auf. Gegenüber dem serienmäßigen BMW M4 verfügt die weltweit auf 200 Exemplare limitierte Edition über eine um 51 kW/69 PS auf 368 kW/500 PS gesteigerte Motorleistung und ein um 50 Nm auf 600 Nm gesteigertes maximales Drehmoment. Hochkarätige Motorsporttechnologie in den Bereichen Antrieb und Fahrwerk sowie ein spezifisches Design, das die Optik der DTM-Rennfahrzeuge von BMW Motorsport zitiert, macht die BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition zu einem Hochleistungscoupé mit Fokus auf Rennstreckenbetrieb und zu einem außergewöhnlichen Sammlerstück. In puncto Fahrleistungen beeindruckt der BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition mit herausragenden Werten. Den Sprint von null auf 100 km/h absolviert er beispielsweise in nur 3,8 Sekunden; die Höchstgeschwindigkeit ist bei 305 km/h abgeregelt. Ermöglicht wird diese bemerkenswerte Performance nicht zuletzt durch die innovative und bereits aus dem BMW M4 GTS bekannte Wassereinspritzung des Sechszylinder-Reihenmotors. Die dadurch erzielte Kühlung der Brennräume verschiebt die thermisch bedingten Leistungsgrenzen des Motors signifikant nach oben, wie das Leistungsplus von 16 Prozent gegenüber dem Serienmotor beweist. Der BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition 2016 ist ausschließlich in Alpinweiß erhältlich. Die zusätzliche Folierung erinnert in ihrer Gestaltung und Formgebung an die Optik der DTM-Rennfahrzeuge von BMW Motorsport und unterstreicht so auf den ersten Blick die enge Beziehung des Editionsmodells zu den Erfolgen der Marke in der wohl populärsten internationalen Tourenwagen-Serie der Welt. Zur markanten Rennwagen-Optik tragen zudem die verschiedenen in Sicht-Carbon ausgeführten Aerodynamikkomponenten bei. Dazu zählen der Frontsplitter, die vor dem vorderen Radkasten positionierten Aero-Flicks, die Außenspiegelkappen, die Seitenschwelleraufsätze, der Heckdiffusor sowie der große feststehende Heckflügel auf der Kofferraumklappe. Im Innenraum der zweisitzigen BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition 2016 nehmen Fahrer und Beifahrer auf M Carbon-Schalensitzen Platz, die mit exklusivem Alcatantara/Leder Merino bezogen sind. Zudem ist das gesamte Interieur mit dem besonders hochwertigen Bezugsmaterial Alcantara ausgeschlagen, das auch am M Sportlenkrad mit grauer 12-Uhr-Markierung zum Einsatz kommt. Statt einer Rückbank findet sich hinter den vorderen Sitzschalen des BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition ein in weiß gehaltener Überrollbügel. In puncto Komfort und Sicherheit ist das Editionsmodell keinesfalls spartanisch ausgestattet. Unter anderem zählen das BMW Navigationssystem Professional, eine Klimaanlage, adaptive LED-Scheinwerfer mit BMW Selective Beam (blendfreier Fernlichtassistent), OLED-Heckleuchten, Park Distance Control (PDC) vorn und hinten sowie automatisch abblendende Innen- und Außenspiegel zum Lieferumfang. Im Vergleich zum serienmäßigen BMW M4 glänzt die DTM Champion Edition nicht nur mit einer gesteigerten Performance, sondern auch mit abermals optimierten fahrdynamischen Qualitäten. Dazu trägt das nochmals konsequenter umgesetzte Konzept des Intelligenten Leichtbaus bei. Unter anderem sind die Motorhaube, das Dach, das Instrumententafel-Tragrohr und der Heckdiffusor aus kohlenstofffaserverstärktem Kunststoff (CFK) gefertigt. Der Endschalldämpfer der doppelflutigen Sportabgasanlage mit ihren beiden Endrohrpaaren ist aus besonders leichtem Titan. Den Kontakt zur Straße stellt die speziell auf die Rennstrecke abgestimmte High-Performance-Bereifung Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 im Format 265/35 R19 vorn und 285/30 R20 hinten her. Die Mischbereifung ist auf Leichtmetallfelgen im Design Sternspeiche 666 M in Orbitgrau matt aufgezogen. Eine fadingfreie Verzögerung auch bei hartem Einsatz auf der Rennstrecke garantiert die M Carbon-Keramik-Bremsanlage. Das individuell einstellbare 3-Wege M Gewindefahrwerk kann in den Zug- wie in den Druckstufen mechanisch eingestellt werden. So lassen sich die Handlingeigenschaften des Autos je nach persönlichem Geschmack und Streckencharakteristik anpassen.

The BMW M4 GTS DTM Champion Edition

Two years after his first title win, BMW M4 pilot Marco Wittmann once again secured the driver’s title in the DTM at the 2016 season finale at the Hockenheimring. To honour this achievement, BMW M is rolling out the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition. Compared to the the standard M4 series model, this limited edition car, with only 200 examples worldwide, boasts an increase in engine performance by 51 kW/69hp to 368 kW/500hp and a 50 Nm rise in maximum torque to 600 Nm. Superlative motorsport technology in the drive and suspension systems, as well as a specific design that draws on the look of the DTM racing car from BMW Motorsport, makes the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition a high-performance coupé with a focus on racetrack operability, as well as an exceptional collector’s piece. When it comes to driving performance, the BMW M4 DTM notches up some impressive scores. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint for example takes just 3.8 seconds, and its electronically limited top speed is 305 km/h. This remarkable performance is made possible not least by the six-cylinder in-line engine’s innovative water injection system, already familiar from the BMW M4 GTS model. The cooling action this produces in the combustion chamber makes for a significant expansion of the engine’s thermally induced performance limits, showing a 16% performance improvement over the standard series engine. The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition 2016 is exclusively available in alpine white. The additional foiling pays homage in its design and moulding to the look of BMW Motorsport DTM racing car, and emphasises at first glance the edition model’s close relationship with the brand’s successes in the world’s most popular line of international touring cars. The various carbon-fibre aerodynamic components also contribute to the distinctive racing-car appearance. These include the front splitter, the aero-flicks positioned ahead of the front wheel arches, wing mirror caps, side skirt extensions, rear diffuser and the large rear spoiler fixed to the trunk lid.Driver and co-driver settle into the interior of the two-seater BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition 2016 on M carbon bucket seats, exclusively upholstered in Alcantara merino leather. The whole interior is also kitted out with the especially high-quality Alcantara cover material, also used on the M sports steering wheel with 12-hour marking in grey. Instead of rear seating, behind the front seats of the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition there’s a roll bar fitted in white. When it comes to comfort and safety, the edition model’s features are anything but spartan. Among other fittings, the model is delivered complete with the BMW Professional navigation system, air conditioning, adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam (a glare-free, high-beam assistant), organic LED taillights, Park Distance Control (PDC) at the front and rear, as well as automatically anti-dazzle interior and exterior mirrors.Compared to the standard BMW M4 series model, the DTM Champion Edition excels not only with an improved performance but also once more with optimised driving dynamic qualities. Part of this is again down to the rigorously applied concept of intelligent lightweight construction. Among other features, the engine bonnet, roof, supporting tube for the instrument panel and rear diffuser are made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP). The silencer of the double-flow sport exhaust system with its two double-tailpipes is crafted from exceptionally lightweight titanium. Road holding is assured with the specially racetrack-calibrated Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance tyres, in 265/35 R19 format in the front and 285/30 R20 at the rear. The tyre mix is mounted on alloy wheel rims with the star-spoke 666 M design in orbit-grey matte finish. The M carbon-ceramic braking system guarantees fade-free acceleration even in tough racetrack use. Traction and pressure ratings for the individually customisable 3-way M coilover suspension can be mechanically adjusted. So the car’s handling properties can be tailored to personal taste and road characteristics.
