EXTERIOR
Finished in its factory specified colour of Nogaro Silver, the boxy form of this iconic Evolution 2 looks spectacular. 1 of just 3 colours available on the limited production run the Metallic shade presents with a deep shine, glistening as the subtle flake captures the light across M3’s defined lines.

Having been used sparingly throughout its life the overall condition of the exterior is very good, with just a handful of light stonechips to note around an otherwise very clean example.

INTERIOR
Standard to all Evo 2’s, the half leather interior of the M3 is a true 80’s timewarp. The Silver Uberkaro sports seats present in superb condition, free from any unsightly stains or tears and also come with factory fitted electric heating in the front seats. Some other nice features include the original BMW Radio, which are so often replaced by aftermarket units that detract from the M3’s retro charm, and the original tool kit which sits complete in the boot lid of the car.

Just in front of the gear stick sits the special Evolution 2 numbered plaque, confirming the build number of this special edition vehicle as number 485/500.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Equipped with a later, more powerful version of BMW’s iconic S14 Engine (the S14B23) the EVO 2 produced nearly 30bhp more than the standard M3 and was the highest capacity 2.3L BMW used in the road going M3s and build for homologation purposes. By using an aluminium head BMW were able to keep weight down significantly improving the cars handling over its competitors.

As with all E30 M3’s the car has a 5 speed dog leg gearbox that feels tight and provides a quick change between 2nd and 3rd gear, the Evo 2 utilising the same ratios but a shorter final drive.

Having covered just 64k miles, much of which was in the cars early life, mechanical condition of the vehicle is very good. With a 13 stamps present in the original service book and the car dry stored for a number of years by the long-term owner this Evo 2 shows all the signs of a cherished example.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The car is fitted with the standard Evolution 2 16″ BBS cross spoke alloys, all of which are in perfect unmarked condition. They are shod in a matching set of Bridgestone tyres.

Brakes perform well under test, with no signs of lipping and plenty of depth left on the pads all around.

HISTORY FILE
This M3 was supplied to its first German owner in May 1988 before being imported to the UK less than a year later, in April 1989 as shown by the original service book supplied with the vehicle. The car was then purchased by the next owner in April 1993 and has stayed in the family for the past 28 years, passing over from father to son who both used the car very sparingly.

The history folder outlines 13 stamps in the original service book from a combination of BMW main dealers and specialists, which includes a recorded clock change in 1991 at 74,373km. MOT history also helps to verify the cars mileage, with a number of certificates until the car went into storage in 2010 and then annual MOTs from 2017 onwards. The car is currently due a full service and belt change which can be completed at the asking price.

Present with the car is the original book pack with stamped service book, log of MOT’s and invoices, rare original M3 Evolution sales brochure, V5 and a complete set of keys.
