Description
The final edition of the “Big Healey,” the 3000 Mk III BJ8 was the perfect amalgamation of style, comfort, and speed. Built from 1963 through 1967, the BJ8 featured a standard vacuum brake booster, improved exhaust system, and lavish interior with roll-up windows. It could reach 60 mph in under 10 seconds, with a top speed over 120 mph.
In 2013, this BJ8 emerged from a superb rotisserie-style restoration executed by marque specialist Healey Lane Restoration. The engine, transmission, and overdrive were rebuilt, while the fuel lines and tank, electricals, suspension, and exhaust system were replaced, all to factory specifications. The instruments were also rebuilt, and a new windshield, top, boot, and side windows were installed, with elements either expertly preserved and refinished or replaced with factory correct parts. The BJ8 was finished in Healey Gold over a DuPont ChromaBase, with new Fawn Beige Amblia upholstery from Matthews and Son of England, and new wool carpeting. As is the standard with Healey Lane restorations, the work performed was photo-documented. The BJ8 comes accompanied by a BMIHT Certificate, workshop manual, and driver’s handbook. Soon after the restoration was complete in 2013, the car was acquired by the current owner for his wife, who reports having driven it less than 900 miles.
Perfect for the Austin-Healey purist, as well as the gentleman or lady sports car driver, this remarkable Austin-Healey is as stunning to look at as it is thrilling to drive.
