‘The Volante is the new soft-top version of the Virage incorporating the latest changes made to the full Aston range. Beautiful hand-built craftsmanship abounds in this most aristocratic of convertibles.’ – Fast Lane.

The production Virage Volante debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991, a prototype having been displayed at the Birmingham’s NEC the previous October.

This V8-powered car was intended as the company’s top model with the 6-cylinder 1994 DB7 slotted below it but this V8 model (by then in Vantage form) remained the exclusive, expensive and hand-built king of Astons.

The Virage was an appositely named and important car since it was the model with which Aston Martin turned a corner. There is just a handful of Astons that can be described as seminal models – the Ulster, DB2, DB4, and Vanquish, for example – and the Virage is emphatically one of them. It helped the marque to survive and showed that Aston Martin was capable of remarkable engineering with limited resources.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This beautiful Virage Volante was newly delivered in 1996.

The former owner is an enthusiastic Aston Martin collector and had a variety of Aston Martin Virages.

This gentlemen bought the Virage in 2016. He brought the car after his purchase to 1 of the Aston Martin heritage dealers to give the car a full service. After the service he drove the Aston Martin scarcely.

Since new the Aston Martin drove only 76.000 kilometers so only 3.200 kilometers a year.

The former owner is a huge fan of Virages. He had a serious collection but is now willing to have less cars and therefore we have been able to buy some of his Virages.

He choose his Virages carefully and therefore this example is in a stunning condition.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

The Virage Volante is exterior wise in a very nice and impressive condition.
The deep dark blue paint is very shiny and the car is without damages like scratches or dents.
All 4 wheels are without any damage and also the windows are without damages or signs of pitting.

The grille which is sometimes showing some aging is also in as new condition.

The soft top/hood which is in a dark blue color is even as the rest of the car in as new condition.

Probably because of the relative low amount of kilometers which has been driven with the Aston Martin the car is in such a beautiful condition.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior of the Aston is in an extremely unique beautiful condition. As you can imagine, the materials used for this very rare car is from a very high quality. The leather for example is very soft. A beautiful type of leather but often damaged because of the softness.

This interior is absolutely amazing with only a very small sign of wearing on the left side of the drivers seat.
A part which we can restore in some hours but we think it belongs to the car.

The wood is in as new condition. It happens sometimes that the sun damages the wood but the wood in this car is in as new condition as well.

It will be difficult to find interior wise a nicer Virage.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The Virage Volante is an extremely impressive car, which no one can deny, the Virage had a hand built body that oozed exclusivity.

To drive, it feels more like a DB4 built in the 1990s than its immediate predecessor, yet the body control is vastly superior and the four-valve V8 is a delight.

Significantly more refined and assuring than the earlier V8’s, the controls are all light and it’s a very easy car to handle.

The Virage does not feel its age, it drips class and elegance and is a real joy to drive thanks to it being so easy and light to drive.

This Virage can be best described as a very well preserved example. A car which has been owned by enthusiasts and has been used with care.
This can easily be seen on the exterior as well as the interior of the car.
