The Aston Martin Vantage Le Mans V600 made its mark as the most powerful production car in the world at the time of its release. Built to honour 40 years since Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby’s triumph—with the side vents a clear nod to the pair’s DBR1—in the 1959 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, engineers saw fit to install a 5,430-cc V-8 engine equipped with a brace of Eaton superchargers to achieve a staggering 600 horsepower. That considerable might helped propel the 1,970-kilogram British behemoth from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and onto a reported top speed of 200 mph.

Of the 40 Vantage Le Mans V600 special editions hand built at the Newport Pagnell plant, this 2000 model year car is number 37 and one of only 18 examples configured in right-hand-drive form. Specified with a menacing Bowland Black exterior befitting of the power that lies beneath, it was delivered new with the full V600 factory package and a five-speed close-ratio manual gearbox, plus five-spoke, centre-locking magnesium wheels, Supersports exhaust, and upgraded hi-fi system.

The first owner reportedly had the car trailered to annual services performed by the supplying dealer, JCT600 of Leeds. In June 2012, this V600 was acquired by a second owner, who commissioned a full engine rebuild by Aston Martin Works at the factory. In addition, the cabin was retrimmed in its current two-tone black and Magnolia leather, with the electric seats capped by black piping, plus other work completed (invoices available to view on file) for a total bill of £90,230.

Subsequently acquired by a third owner in November 2014, who had the car maintained by marque specialist Nicholas Mee & Co, and now offered for sale, the car is accompanied by owner’s guides featuring 15 service stamps, tool kit, fire extinguisher, jack, armrest torch, and history file. Showing just 9,980 miles from new at the time of cataloguing, here is a very rare opportunity to acquire a true “brute in a suit”, with the Vantage Le Mans V600 offering an enthralling blend of power, performance, and luxury motoring.
