Description

"All the exhilaration that a really fast car can offer elegance to gratify the connoisseur performance that is literally breath-taking these are the elements which set the Aston Martin DB Mark III in a class apart. Take it on the road. In thirty minutes you will experience e new conception of motoring." - The Autocar, 16 May 1958

And whether Aston Martin was right. The Aston Martin DB Mark III was produced from 1957 to 1959 and, despite being one of the most expensive cars of the time, it was highly sought after, partly because of its reliable, good reputation. It was a true evolution of the DB2/4 MKII and the W.O. Bentley 2.9L Lagonda Straight-6 engine was redesigned by Tadek Marek for improvement. The DB Mark III was thus one of the faster cars of its time. It produced 162bhp with the single pipe exhaust and 178bhp with the optional twin pipe exhaust.

The grille was redesigned and became the basis for the next Aston Martin models. A dashboard was installed with all the gauges and buttons on the driver's side and a storage compartment for the passenger on his side. What was also new for Aston Martin was that Girling disc brakes were available as an option for this model.

It wouldn't be an Aston Martin if it didn't have something to do with James Bond. In the book of the film Goldfinger Bond drove the Aston Martin DB Mark III but during the filming some years later it was replaced by a DB5.

The 1958 Aston Martin DB 2/4 MKIII we are offering comes from a collection of a true Belgian Aston Martin collector. Before that, it was for a long time in the possession of the Englishman Mr. Crook, who treated it as if it were his child. In 1995, the car underwent a complete restoration and engine overhaul. The car was completely stripped, the engine was taken apart and put back together again completely correctly. In 2004, the entire engine compartment was rebuilt by the market's specialist, Richard Stewart Williams, who is also an official Aston Martin Heritage Specialist. All the details of the car have been kept up to date. Old invoices, letters, photo reports of the restorations, old registrations, everything is present.

Due to its older restoration, the car enjoys a beautiful patina. The dark blue paint in combination with the blue leather interior makes it a very stylish car.

Are you ready to take over the role of James Bond? Do you want to relive the 50's feeling with a fantastic car from this era? Discover it now at Rock N Roll Classics and maybe you will drive home with this beautiful Aston Martin DB 2/4 MKIII.
