Description

The Aston Martin DB2 Saloon was a very attractive choice for the sports car enthusiast in the early postwar era. This potent, sporting coupe was well received at the 1950 New York International Auto Show, and sales were bolstered by strong showings of the Aston Martin racing team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the early 1950s.

According to a copy of the original Aston Martin build record, this 1953 DB2 Saloon was ordered new via PX & International Motors by Captain Philip Hamilton of Middlesex, England, a serviceman in the US Air Force. It was delivered to its first owner in March 1953, finished in elegant Moonbeam Grey paint, complemented by red leather with gray piping. First registered as “YMM 52,” it was later owned by Thomas J. Negri, also in the USAF, followed by J.D. Wolf, a member of the flight interceptor squadron based at Hahn Flugplatz in Hunsrück, Germany. The DB2 was later purchased by Mr. W.B. Styles of Loves Park, Illinois, before being sold to a Wisconsin-based collector with a passion for early Aston Martins.

Recently discovered in static storage along with two other Aston Martin DB2s, this unrestored right-hand-drive Saloon is equipped with a 2.9-litre VB6J-series engine from a later DB2/4 model. Prized by enthusiasts from the outset, this Aston Martin DB2 Saloon stands poised for future glory.

*Please note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and may not be currently operational. It will require mechanical attention prior to road use.
