Description

-Dubonett Rosso with Black leather interior, Black carpeting, Black convertible top, Four-seater, 1.5 Liter 4-cylinder engine, 4-speed manual gearbox, Restored with limited mileage since, Two consecutive long-term collector ownerships, Exceptional throughout, Pebble Beach concours and Mille Miglia participant, Featured in the book "Aston Martin" by Schlegelmilch and Lehbrink, Currently owned by Tom Papadopoulos.

This 1.5 Litre Short Chassis was in the same ownership from 1982 to 2007, Mr. Gerald Moore, Eltville, Germany. In mid-2007 and with the help of Andy Bell - Ecurie Bertelli, it was sold/purchased by Autosport Designs' Tom Papadopoulos. In excellent cosmetic condition having been cosmetically restored during Mr. Moore's ownership and as seen in the book "Aston Martin" by Schlegelmilch and Lehbrink, it was decided to send it directly to the UK-Ecurie Bertelli to receive a comprehensive, photo documented and detailed mechanical restoration.

In 2008 this 1.5 litre received an engine rebuild to the best specification with various upgrades by noted marque specialist Ecurie Bertelli-Andy Bell. A new block was supplied by Ecurie Bertelli, the original is available and included. At this time, Ecurie Bertelli also serviced this Short Chassis from front to rear receiving attention wherever needed at a cost of approximately $85,000.00. It received ignition and charging system upgrades as well as a modified pedal box assembly to modern pedal positioning.

In 2016, it was used by Tom Papadopoulos in the Mille Miglia Retrospective (Photos included in the gallery). After the Mille, it was sent back to the UK to Ecurie Bertelli for a complete and thorough service and freshening prior to returning the car to the USA. At this time, over $90,000.00 was spent to ensure this Short Chassis remained exceptional throughout. All service records are available, it also received a EB tuned sport exhaust system to give it that little extra power and superb exhaust note. This 1.5 Liter Short Chassis has since been maintained and stored properly regardless of use.

Once again having returned to the United States and the "Casadopoulos" garage/stable, it has been used approximately 2,000 miles during the Spring and Summer season, in and around East Hampton, NY. Affectionately known to my family as "Chitty Chitty" for obvious reasons while the kids were young, the kids have now outgrown "Chitty" and the common journeys to the bakery, ice cream and miniature golf in Montauk, it is no longer conducive to buckling three kids in the rear.

It is my personal hope that this 1.5 Liter Short Chassis will find another suitable longer-term home and give the same amount of enjoyment it has given to me, my family, Mr. Gerald Moore and the caretakers prior to both of us. It will be hard to find a finer and more dialed-in and cared for 1.5 Liter Short Chassis for road use or show.
