Having left the factory in 1970, this Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior was delivered new in Neunkirchen, Germany, where the car was inspected by the Oberste Nationale Sportkommission (ONS) in order to be homologated in Germany. The car immediately started its career in competition, driven by the likes of Wolfgang Kirch, X. Speyer, or Didweiler during many German events like the AvD Cup at Hockenheim or the 300km of Nürburgring. In 1972 the car was entered by Alfa Romeo Germany at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring with drivers Marx and Arend and finished 35th overall and 10th in their category. The car never stopped racing between 1970 and 1976, and its complete records are quoted in the excellent book Alleggerita, by Tony Adriaensens, Patrick Dasse and Martin Übelher.
In recent years, the car has undergone a complete restoration during which the engine and interior have been overhauled. It has been fitted with dark racing seats and a black roll bar by German Formula GT, specialist of Alfa racing cars. Today in its red and yellow livery, sitting nicely on its large wheels, the car presents superberly.
It has been completely serviced by Formula GT and has the advantage of being able to be homologated in group 4 equipped with a 1600 engine as it is today. An excellent choice for historic competitions, it comes with an additional set of wheels and tires, as well as a completely rebuilt and never used GTA 1300 replacement engine with Autodelta specifications. With its fine period record, it is eligible for the best events of its kind like the Historic Touring Cup by Peter Auto, the Alfa Revival Cup, the Tour Auto, or the Modena Cento Ore, where it will not fail to give performances which meet its pedigree and its preparation.
