Description

Brescia: starting point of the famous Mille Miglia, but also the home of the Alfa Romeo supplier Ceresa where Filippini Augiolia at December 19th 1975 collected his Alfetta GT. He has chosen one of the most beautiful colors: Blu Pervinca with a perfectly matching cognac-colored interior. The great Turbina rims from Cromodora were also fitted, but the rest of the car had to be as original as possible. It didn’t even needed a radio. The 1800 cc. engine supplied, according to Filippini, the real music and we fully agree with that.

But how is the current condition of the Alfetta GT, 44 years later? Well, to be honest we have never seen such an original and sublime GT. From the hood to the trunklid, it shows that especially great circumstances must have been the reason of the perfect condition. The undercarriage, only protected by a thin layer of wax, looks amazing and is never welded. Really nowhere any signs of rust whatsoever. The GT had a very good life and carefull owners. The interior is after four decades still completely original, with no traces of use, no scratches and, unique: still no radio or speakers fitted. Luckily..

The body has tight sheet panels, perfect panel gaps, a bottom that is clean and has never been welded: that makes us very happy. And even more of course the fact that we able to purchase the car. Was everything in superb condition? No, just a little minus was the paint. We were not satisfied with some parts of the paint because it showed very light cracks on the horizontal parts. This was purely due to the bright Italian sun and we notice that often with classics coming from sunny countries. You can leave everything as it is, because that may be common to an old car, but you can also decide to give it a professionally paintjob, to get the car back in balance with the perfect condition of the rest of the car. Because this Alfettta 1.8 was deserving that, we decided to do it that way. Of course not before we had taken many pictures to be able to hand over this piece of history to the future owner. He will receives this together with various maintenance invoices, leaflets, booklets, etc. This shows that the Alfa specialist had received the order to use all his his skills to maintain the Alfetta GT as well as possible. We can say that they succeeded, because the car really drives like new! The engine runs very smoothly, it brakes perfectly and straight, and to shift gears you pnly need 1 finger. Including to put it into 2nd gear that often has some wear of the synchromesh, but this one hasn’t.

Really everything works as you would expect from a new car … But this is not a new one, despite the only 71.306 km on the clock, and is therefore exceptional and very unique. In addition to regularly offering newer series of GTVs, we hear often the remark that the first series of coupes with the chrome bumpers are so beautiful. The fact that we received a call that this car was for sale, came as a gift from Italian heaven. We predict a good future for this type Alfa Romeo. A type of car many enthusiasts are choosing nowadays because it is easy driving, technically perfect and affordable to maintain, and has not at least, a fantastic appearance.

That there are cheaper GTs offered, we are fully aware of that. But because of their poor quality, not comparable. However, there are also more expensive ones. But are they better? We dare to doubt it. It’s up to you to decide if that is true.
