Description

1963 ALFA ROMEO 2600 SPIDER TOURING

French title
Chassis n° AR192093

- Old restoration, but well preserved
- Classic and elegant model
- Impressive performance

At Alfa Romeo, Orazio Satta was an important figure. It is indeed he who was the architect of the renewal of the brand after WW II. Satta was at the origin of the Alfa Romeo 1900, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 1950, and whose “personality” rested in large part on its engine, a 1.9-liter four-cylinder with DOHC, which would form the basis of the engines to come. The success of these models led Alfa Romeo to develop further on the concept. Along with the modest- displacement Giulietta range, the brand launched at the 1958 Turin Motor Show, the 2000 DOHC 4-cylinder engine, in the Spider version, which had a body designed by Touring. From 1961, these top-of-the-range models featured a 2.6-liter 6-cylinder engine developing 145bhp.
It is a 2600 Spider of this type that we are offering. It bears the Touring number 13477. Redone some ten-odd years ago, it has stood the test of time and is presented today in a good condition. The red leather interior is immaculate, and the dashboard features wood veneer. A period Blaupunkt car radio has been fitted with preset buttons. The metallic gray paint is still beautiful, and the bases show no traces of rust. This is a fine example of an elegant, efficient and sought-after classic.

The auction of this lot will take place on Friday 18 March 2022.
