"The ancestry of the Alfa Romeo Duetto started with the Pininfarina designed Spider Speciale Aerodynamica shown at the 1961 Turin Motor Show. Concept to production took a little longer in those days so the Duetto only came into fruition in 1966. Initially it was not well received and quickly earned the nickname 'Osso di Seppoa' (cuttlefish). The name 'Duetto' came about from a competition held by Alfa Romeo to distinguish the car from its Giulia 105 Series stable mates, the Coupé and Berlina, and was accepted for its reference to the two seat layout. Offered here is a lovely boat-tail example, presented in the desirable Alfa Romeo red paint with black interior in equally good condition; it has clearly been cherished over its life and especially by its current owner for the past 12 years. In 1990 the car was subject to a ground up restoration with well known Alfa Romeo 'guru' Peter West from Westune, well documented in the history file which also contains a comprehensive collection of invoices and receipts for ongoing care thereafter. Our vendor has removed the dynamo and fitted an alternator for ease of use and recent new parts include a new exhaust, front brake discs and pads, speedo cable and brake hoses with the works undertaken by auto specialists K7L or his trusted local garage. Our vendor, who has cherished the car, tells us that he has only ever used BGH 57H in the dry and is selling with a heavy heart. We are advised that the hood is in excellent condition and the car has a recently obtained MoT valid until March 2019. A pretty and iconic Alfa Duetto in the very best colour combination having been cared for by its current private owner for the past 12 years; we believe this is a gem for any potential new owner and is sure to attract a lot of attention this summer.
