5* MCN Review!

MCN claimed that the 1098R was Ducati back to what it does best… Creating focused, low-volume exotic motorcycles that are reassuringly expensive!

And who are we to argue with that formula.

The truth is that the 2008 Ducati 1098R road bike was so closely connected to the Factory F08 race bike of the time (due to the tight rules in WSB back then), that is was regarded as a bit of an animal to ride.

With 180hp on tap and road testers all reporting about the bikes desire to lift its front wheel in any of the first 3 gears, it was no surprise that Ducati elected to fit a competition-level traction control system as standard equipment. The first time ever any manufacturer had done so on a road bike.

Despite this reputation, the desirability of the 1098R was further enhanced through the fitment of the highest specification components from Brembo, Marchesini, Termignoni and an aluminium single-sided swing arm. This all comes together to create a highly sought-after bike and a future classic.

This example offers an opportunity to acquire this iconic bike with a view to riding it rather than admiring it from an armchair, having covered 17,622 miles with its 5 previous owners.
