Discover quirky yet affordable timepieces at the next Sotheby’s watch sale

Here at Classic Driver, we’re always on the lookout for the quirky and the unusual. It just so happens that at the Sotheby’s online Fine Timepieces Auction on 15 March, a number of watches fitting that description are also affordable…

In fact, almost every watch in the 204-lot catalogue for the upcoming Sotheby’s Fine Timepieces Online Auction, taking place on 15 March, is estimated below 5,000 CHF. But our selection of highlights below features, as you’d expect, the less usual suspects — from the oh-so-seventies Breitling Co-Pilot Yachting (est. 2,000–4,000 CHF) and the Lemania Chronograph (2,000–3,000 CHF) to the beautifully minimalist Panerai Radiomir (3,000–5,000 CHF) and the charming 1940s Movado (2,000–3,000 CHF). However, perhaps our favourite timepiece offered — and we’re sure the hipsters out there will agree — is the digital Hewlett Packard from 1977, which boasts a clock, a calculator, an alarm, a stopwatch, and a calendar. And all for just 1,000–2,000 CHF! You can find our 10 favourites listed below or, alternatively, browse the entire catalogue in the Classic Driver Market
