FIA GT at Dubai

With the Team and Drivers' titles having already been won by Maserati, it was nevertheless a good performance by the Phoenix Racing DBR9 to come first overall at the last round of this year's championship, set amongst the sand dunes and palm trees of Dubai.

Phoenix Racing took their first victory of the season in the final race, with a good performance from Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini. Their Aston Martin DBR9 functioned perfectly throughout the race, the two drivers crossing the line 49 seconds ahead of the Nr. 4 GLPK Carsport Corvette of Longin, Kumpen and Hezemans, with the Nr. 2 Vitaphone Maserati MC 12 of Davies, Biagi and Vosse third.

The GT2 victory went to Mullen and Niarchos, in the Scuderia Ecosse Nr. 63 Ferrari 430 GT2. However, the ten points were not enough to promote Mullen to third in the Classification, as he was followed by the two AF Corse cars. Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander finished second, giving Melo the GT2 title. Aguas and Salo were third today, struggling with a problem in their car, but it was enough to guarantee their third place and the AF Corse domination in the GT2 drivers top three.

The Spyker and Ebimotors Porsche both led the category, but finished further down in the points. There was no GT3 race at Dubai, however extras entries came from G2 and G3 classified cars.
