Rare Opportunity: Single-owner Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder at RM's Monterey sale
Ten examples of the 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spyder were built, after Le Mans winner Luigi Chinetti convinced Ferrari to produce a small batch of these elegant, powerful convertibles. One of the ten fortunate owners was Chinetti’s friend Eddie Smith (pictured), who owned it all the way up until his recent death.
Now the Smith family has made the difficult decision to pass the Ferrari – chassis number 10709 – into new ownership. The proceeds will apparently be used for charitable purposes.
As well as the 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T Spyder and the D-type, plenty of other significant classics will go under the hammer at RM's Monterey sale, including: a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Scaglietti Spider, a 1950 Ferrari 166 Touring Barchetta, a 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Coupé Aerodinamico, and a 1953 Maserati A6GCS/53 Fantuzzi Spider. The preliminary catalogue can be found in the Classic Driver Marketplace
