Tesla marked a historic shift in the automotive world with its release of the Roadster in 2008. At that time it became the first street legal, all-electric car to utilize lithium-ion battery technology. This technology when new, allowed the Roadster to travel 200-plus miles on a single charge, a truly impressive figure for the time period. Equally impressive was the performance of the new Tesla. At its initial release the Roadster was powered by a 185 kW (248 hp) proprietary electric drivetrain which was capable of a sub-four second 0-60 mph time and a top speed of 125 mph. While early cars were equipped with a two-speed transmission, they were later replaced by a Borg Warner single-speed gearbox, a gearbox that eventually all Roadsters would leave the factory with beginning in September 2008. An upgraded engine was introduced in 2009 with a modest increase of power, bringing the car up to 215 kW (288 hp). Tesla produced the first generation Roadster from 2008 to 2012 with subtle improvements throughout production. In total approximately 2,450 Roadsters were built.

This 2011 Tesla R80 3.0 Roadster Sport is finished in the magnificent shade of Glacier Blue. It rides on directional forged wheels finished in black, which along with the carbon fiber trim and removable soft-top roof, accent the exterior nicely. The interior features a MOMO steering wheel, push-button transmission, bolstered bucket seats, and an entertainment screen. This desirable first generation Tesla Roadster has received the R80 3.0 battery upgrade, which when new, offered a 340 mile range. This upgrade was completed by the prior owner at a cost of $29,000.

Current ownership purchased this car in early 2019. Shortly thereafter the car was sent to Tesla of Dania Beach, Florida for servicing totaling $11,714.24, these invoices accompany the car. One notable new item on the car are Xenon headlights, installed in April of 2019. The Tesla has covered 17,492 miles at the time of cataloguing and is accompanied by manuals, car cover, and charging cable. In addition to the removable soft-top roof, the car also includes a carbon fiber hardtop, as well as a transparent hardtop.
