The German Wander Company was quite a force in the early days of motorcycling, founded in 1902 and closing its doors in 1929. They built high-class 327-cc and 387-cc singles and twins of 408-cc and 616-cc displacement, many of which were used by the German army in the First World War.
After the war the company built a 184-cc OHV single and V-twins of 708-cc and 749-cc displacement, with unit construction, and some with eight-valve motors. Along with other German manufacturers, they announced a shaft-drive, pressed-steel frame model with a 498-cc OHV engine in 1927, but in 1927 they sold the entire production equipment and drawings to Jawa in Prague, which was just getting started.
An older restoration finished in black and blue and accented by presentable brightwork, this example features an acetylene headlamp, footboards, beaded-edge
