Ricardo Pessoa, founder of Cool & Vintage, explains:

“Our 87th build was first sketched for Steve Ambort in the summer of 2018. The idea was to build a Land Rover for the slow-living Comporta vibe, minimal but with an emphasis on colour – it had to be remarkable. It was meant to create meaningful memories with family and friends and an ultimate design piece for the villa in Sublime, Comporta. Steve read about Comporta in a magazine while sitting in a Mayfair café in 2016. He took a picture of the article and referred back to it while planning a holiday for the following summer. He hadn’t been to Portugal since 2010.”

Steve Ambort says:

“It’s no surprise that the first thing I fell for were the beaches and the dunes. But more surprising was the simplicity of the area and warmness of the people. I’ve travelled to most beach resorts in Europe and when I was sitting on Gale Beach, I felt like I was in Brazil rather than Europe. It’s amazing to me that Comporta wasn’t discovered sooner, particularly since it’s just over one hour from Lisbon. In my opinion, the simplicity of Comporta doesn’t match with a sports car. It’s a working village and remains so, even after all the international attention. Farming is at Comporta’s heart and what better represents that than a Land Rover?”
