The Bertone Freeclimber 2 was the legendary Turin coachbuilder's offering of a better-finished and more attractive 4x4 than the model from which it was derived, the Dahiatsu Feroza. Assembly took place at Bertone starting with the naked bodywork that was sent from Japan. Distinguished by distinctive two-tone paintwork painted almost by hand, the Freeclimber was distinguished by a front grille with four headlights, wide mudguards with oversized tyres and a better-finished interior. All the bodywork was Bertone branded, including the double keys. Instead of the standard 4-cylinder engine, Bertone installed BMW's more spirited and fun 1,600 cc engine with 103 horsepower.

This example was registered in January 1994 and retains its original registration plates and booklet, and the history is fully documented. It has only had 5 owners and has been part of the current owner's collection since 2018. In 2022 a full mechanical service was carried out which included greasing and various adjustments and a thorough body and interior detaling. This Freeclimber 2 is a 4-seater convertible and retains its removable rear cover. The car retains its first paint and an absolute level of originality. The kilometres indicated are 59,000 and from the state of preservation and documentation are original. The car has had 5 owners in all:

It comes with all its original windows: we would like to point out that the driver's side windows are slightly damaged. Please note that the car is sold with the original replacement windows. The owner then put in a set of new Hankook Dynapro AT tyres in 2022 and fitted new bespoke carpets.

As fun as it is rare, this Freeclimber 2 is one of the most distinctive 4x4s ever made by Bertone. A vehicle for enthusiasts, it is perfect as a static and dynamic collector's item.
