Beschreibung

F.B. Mondial was founded in 1929 by Giuseppe Boselli and his three brothers, and together they manufactured three-wheeled delivery vehicles up until the factory was destroyed in WWII. In 1948, Boselli purchased an advanced DOHC 125 cc single designed by Alfonso Drusiani and soon after hired him to run F.B. Mondial’s new racing department. This resulted in a highly successful run of victories, as they were 125 cc World Champions in 1949, 1950, 1951, and 1957.

The company also produced small numbers of high-performance, small-capacity road bikes from 1948 through to 1960. One of the most desirable models was the 175 Sport, such as the beautiful example offered here. Compared to the lower-tier bikes, the Sport had a revised frame, cam, larger valves, and a larger carburetor, among other upgrades.

This stunning example was restored in Italy and ridden in the MotoGiro before becoming part of Guy Webster’s renowned Italian motorcycle collection in California. The bike was then owned by another California-based collector of small-displacement Italian motorcycles and displayed at the prestigious Quail Motorcycle Gathering in 2015 before joining the collection of Leo Schigiel. The 175 Sport is one of the most desirable and rarest of the 1950s F.B. Mondials and they do not often appear for sale publicly. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exotic overhead-cam F.B. Mondial with gorgeous lines and outstanding provenance.

*Please note that this vehicle is sold on a Bill of Sale. Please also note that this vehicle has been in long-term static storage and may require mechanical attention prior to road use.
