OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

While Mazda may have embraced Wankel rotary technology back in the 1960s, many enthusiasts feel it wasn't until the RX-7 of 1978 that they truly got it right. The first generation RX-7 featured the 12A rotary engine and wedge-shaped styling, while the second generation FC received substantially updated styling and Mazda's updated 13B powerplant. The third and final generation RX-7, however, would leave the model with an entirely different legacy. Unveiled in 1992, the FD generation offered exotic looks and new monocoque chassis promoted as offering 20-percent more torsional rigidity over its predecessor. Offering a curb weight of just 2,800 pounds, the FD delivered strong performance and exceptional handling dynamics, with an RX-7 even claiming Motor Trend Import Car of the Year in 1993.

First offered in either Base, Touring, or R1 trim level, all models would feature a sequentially-turbocharged, twin-rotor 1.3-liter 13B engine. An obvious favorite of many rotary enthusiasts, the 13B was a result of Mazda's commitment to the Wankel rotary for over thirty years. Equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, this RX-7 Touring features a sunroof, fog lights, and Bose Acoustic Wave audio. Also included within the Touring package is the addition of a front spoiler while deleting the boisterous rear spoiler, along with stylish 16-inch alloy wheels.

Delivered new to Roseville Mazda of Roseville, California, this example is finished in a beautiful Montego Blue Mica exterior and benefits from long-term care. A welcomed contrast to many FD RX-7s still on the road today, this vehicle has been left unmodified after long-term residency in California and Arizona with the original owner until 2022. As a result of this preservation, the tan leather interior remains in excellent original condition while its distinctive Montego Blue Mica paintwork still captures onlookers attention. Offered with fewer than 25,000 original miles, original books, its window sticker, and partial service records, this RX-7 offers tremendous potential for future collectability and represents the zenith of Mazda's rotary-engined sports car.
