Beschreibung
Very collectible German micro-car
Needs some recommissioning
Offered with No Reserve
Dating from the first year Messerschmitt produced the Cabriolet, the current Sydney owner purchased this 1958 KR200 through the MCSC club in 1994. Partially incomplete and in generally tired condition, our vendor carefully recommissioned the Messerschmitt over time, sourcing parts like cables and gaskets from the English owner’s club. Initially registered on full plates in NSW in October 2011, this was transferred to historic club plates after a couple of years. A retired mechanical engineer with plenty of experience restoring other Messerschmitts, our vendor then set about competely rebuilding the engine including several new gears and shafts, all new bearings, a new crankshaft, conrod and piston. The rebuilt engine has only covered about ten kilometres and is yet to be fully run in. Previously finished in silver with a red nose, the KR200 was recently resprayed in period-correct colours of Polar White with contrasting Turquoise mudguards, using acrylic paint. The upholstery was professionally made in two-tone Avocado while the vinyl top was made by the vendor, to fit the original frames. A bubble canopy can be fitted should the buyer wish to add one, although the cabriolet is better suited to Australia’s climate. Previously on non-transferable historic registratin in NSW and therefore sold unregistered, the Messerschmitt will be sold with No Reserve and comes with a quantity of spare parts, a copy of the owner’s manual and workshop manual.
