Rare Tatra 57B Saloon

Dating from just before the outbreak of the Second World War, this Tatra 57B was purchased for the collection in the Czech Republic and photos on file show the car was in generally sound and substantially complete condition. After being stripped back to bare metal, the streamlined saloon body was repainted in the current white duco and still presents well today, roughly 25 years after being restored, with only a couple of minor blemishes. The red seat upholstery appears to pre-date the restoration and remains in good condition throughout, as does the carpet and headliner. The surprisingly roomy cockpit is dominated by a single 100 mph speedo with a built-in clock and trip meter and there is the added practicality of a decent-sized boot. The only noted modification is the addition of turn signals for safety.

One of only a handful of Tatras currently in Australia, the 57B is a fascinating little car, combining quirky engineering with excellent build quality and would make an excellent addition to any pre-war car collection. Rarely shown or driven, the Tatra has been in long-term storage and will require some mechanical recommissioning as a result. Currently unregistered, the car will be sold with No Reserve.
