Beschreibung
Jaguar XK 150 3.4 Fixed Head Coupe (1958)
When the Jaguar XK150 goes into production in 1957, the model is considered one of the fastest sports cars on the market. Not much of a surprise either, as Jaguar has already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for four times, and will win the race again in the year the XK150 is introduced.
The heart of the new XK150 is the great-sounding 3.4-litre inline six-cylinder engine, which delivers a healthy 190 bhp. In comparison: the Porsche 356 Carrera does not go beyond 110 bhp, the BMW 507 stops at 150 bhp. With its exceptionally powerful engine, the XK150 is able to keep in the tracks of exotic sports cars as the Maserati 3500 GT and Aston Martin DB Mk III.
It’s clear that the Jaguar XK150 is related to the illustrious XK120 and XK140. Numerous modifications in its design have been made to keep the stylish top model up-to-date. Most notable are the wider bonnet, the modern-lined wings and the panoramic one-piece windscreen, which is placed further forward to facilitate a better entry. A thorough update of the technology was not considered necessary by Jaguar, given the performance of the engine and the qualities of the chassis.
The extraordinary qualities of the model are immediately tangible when you step behind the large wooden sports steering wheel of this beautiful 1958 XK150 Fixed-Head Coupé. Perhaps this example may not be in absolute concours condition – which makes it easier to use the car frequently. However, the technical condition is 100%, thanks to the careful maintenance that was carried out by renowned brand specialists. The car comes with an extensive maintenance file.
To take the driving pleasure to an even higher level, the car has been modified at a few points. However, these changes are very easy to revert. The XK150 has a manual five-speed gearbox, which converts the power into a slightly faster acceleration but provides less engine revs at cruising speed. The car also has electric power steering, making it easier to change direction in tight hairpin bends and heavy traffic. A pair of classic bucket seats ensure that you don't slip off the beautiful maroon leather at high cornering speeds.
Painted in Gun Metal Gray, this XK150 Fixed-Head Coupé was built in August 1958, to be delivered to the American Jaguar importer in New York City a month later. Even though various modifications have been made to the car, all original parts such as the gearbox and steering column have been preserved, so that we can offer the car with matching numbers. All numbers listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate confirm the car's identity.
