In 2000 it was brought to Italy (the owner is an Italian-American citizen) and was registered as 3000, probably due to the inevitable bureaucratic difficulties related to our country.
The owner (an honest person of a certain prestige, since he is the owner of a well-known Tuscan winery) says that he personally picked up the car in Affalterbach, directly at the AMG factory, in 1991.
I asked AMG for information but unfortunately they have nothing in the archive before 1995. So I contacted the “Stelle Cadenti” club and they told me that at the time AMG bought full stocks of cars to modify their engines but it was not sure that the unit removed from a car would be reassembled on the same car, on the contrary: it was highly unlikely.
This car was kept with great care both in the body and in the mechanics; in addition to the regular services, the following parts were replaced: coolant, brake oil, oil seal of the 4 Matic automatic transmission-transfer case coupling, the well-known weak point of the car (the oil seal), replaced automatic transmission oil, differential oil, 4 Matic oil. In addition: spark plug cables and ignition cap, front axle shaft boots, ignition control unit (it did not allow the enrichment wire to have a cold start), cleaning of the injectors with ultrasounds.
The rims were powder coated again (as well as the 4 additional rims equipped with winter tyres with 70% tread), car supplied with a Becker radio of the time, a right rear-view mirror and all the brochures and information booklets of the time.
Options: leather interior, electric front seats (driver’s seat with memory function), heated and with lumbar adjustment, double airbag, air conditioning system (retrofitted system compatible with R134a gas), 4 power windows, electric sunroof in dual mode, power radio antenna, ABS, cruise control.
ASI registered, so it is exempt from road tax, flat-rate IPT (provincial vehicle registration tax; transfer made at the public register of motor vehicles: about 130 euros) and reduced insurance according to the company chosen.

Defects: slight marks on the corners of the bumpers consistent with the age of the vehicle, vanity mirrors without their light as the electrical contacts are oxidised, breakage (it has been glued but you can see the marks) of the plastic cover of the inner lower side area of the front passenger side.
The hose of the double air intake (typical of AMG engines) is currently missing (but it will be restored soon).
