I’ve had the car for 21 years, body-off restored by Specialist Lowland Classic Cars (restored by Henry Schouwink), see plate in the engine bay.

Stainless steel battery box, overdrive, renewed radiator, new front leaf springs and springs.

The TR3a was further development of the TR3. The car had a larger grille, door handles on the outside, a lockable boot and for the first time a tool kit on board.

The body looks nice. The sheet metal is nice and thin and has a good fit throughout. It still has all the chrome trim, it’s in good condition. The car has the sought after chrome spoke wheels. The wheels have good Michelin tyres which is indicative of the way the car has been maintained.

The top and doors are in very good condition and have a nice fit. The black paintwork is in good condition and only has very light signs of wear. The interior was reupholstered in black leather and has black carpets. The leather is in good condition and the carpets fit very well. The dashboard is in fine condition and all instruments work as they should.

The TR3 was praised at the time for its good driving characteristics. The TR3 was already equipped with disc brakes at the time of its introduction which gave the car a great advantage over its competitors. It was one of the reasons the Triumph TR3 was regularly used for driving rallies or in classic racing, even to this day.

The engine has 100 hp and good handling in combination with its low weight of only 950 kg. The engine and transmission work very well. The engine accelerates well and likes to rev. The transmission shifts with great precision. The chassis and brakes are in good condition and provide pleasant handling. The car drives great, sportsmanship and comfort are nicely combined.
