We have a rather unique Volvo PV444’Sjuttio Sport’ available. In 1957 it was supplied from new to a client in California. Some 24 years ago it was exported to the Netherlands. This is an original ‘Sjuttio Sport’ version with the factory installed very powerful 1400cc B14A engine delivering in excess of 70 PS (69 BHP). The engines used came from the very limited production of the P 1900 Sport. Sjuttio means 70 in Swedish and refers to the 70 horse power the car delivers. At the time this was quite a powerful engine that easily could compete with the Porsche`s of the day. These cars were only intended for the American export market and never supplied to the European market. The model type PV444 stands for Person Vagn, 4 seats, 4 stroke and 4 cylinders. The last owner had the car for over 24 years. A few ago the bodywork had a re-spray in the original colour and in late 2004 the car was fully overhauled by a renowned Volvo specialist. For the rest the car is untouched and authentic! The overhaul has been well documented. Mechanically in very good working order delivering a trouble-free ride. The bodywork is in a very good state with straight body panels. The car, thanks to the dry Californian climate, is unaffected by any corrosion. The original underbody is perfectly solid. The interior is totally original and in good condition. Another peculiarity of the PV444 is the ear-shaped grill. The car has the following extras; A splendid bonnet mascot, the aforementioned grill, hooded front lights and original gangster cap. A top condition PV444 Sjuttio Sport rarely comes to market and we are rather pleased to have been able to source this one for you!
