Beschreibung

"The 400SE was largely similar to a late 390SE, but featured marginally larger displacement - 3948 versus 3905cc. The body was as for the Series 2 390SE, with the more rounded nose and a large rear underbody aerofoil. An asymmetrically vented bonnet hinted at what was underneath, and there was a large rear spoiler. The appearance was considerably more mature than the wild SEAC and there was of course the ‘phenomenal noise’ and ‘exhilarating acceleration’.Ventilated front disc brakes and 15 inch wheels were standard fitment, with power steering available and later made standard. In 1989 the even bigger engined 450SE appeared with an extra 45 bhp but otherwise hard to distinguish from the 400. Production of the 450SE ended in 1990 after only 35 had been built. There was also the 1989 400SX, a supercharged version developed by ‘Northern TVR Centre’ in Barrow-in-Furness. Along with DPR Forced Induction Systems, Sprintex supercharger units were fitted and, while power and torque outputs are unknown, the smaller engined 350SX showed increases of over thirty percent, which would mean ample power for most. The supercharged versions provided superb mid-range punch, compared to the peakier naturally aspirated models. First registered on 16th February 1990, this wonderful example of the mighty British sportscar everyone wished for, is presented in Mica Blue (dark metallic blue) with a retrimmed interior of blue leather - reputedly the same leather used for British Airways Club Class seats - new carpets and tan Alcantara which are both in good condition. This is one of 242 built, and one of only 33 still registered on UK roads (per 'how many left' website). The car also comes with power steering, central locking and recent MoT certificate with no advisories. Also to note, it comes with its original OZ split rim alloys – which have been restored with new Radinox stainless steel rims and bolts from Felgen Fuchs, original spare wheel and jack. All the electrics are said to be working including the mirrors according to the vendor. The exhaust manifold gaskets have been replaced whilst in our vendor’s three year ownership together with new plugs and leads and the usual servicing including fluids and greasing. This is a great example of this marque still offering blistering performance with the aesthetics to still draw as many glances today as it did when first manufactured."
