Beschreibung

Starting from 1999, Porsche released the GT3, a special new 911 developed to homologate the 911 GT3 RS and RSR race cars that carried the Porsche banner in international competition to great effect. True to form, various developments of the GT3 repeatedly broke Nürburgring’s Nordschleife (North Loop) production car lap record. Committed Porschephiles in the US, however, had to wait until 2004 to purchase the 911 GT3 and the GT3 RS (RennSport) variant.

Following the updated 997-generation 911 models in 2006 and the improved 997.2 models that arrived in 2009, the GT3 RS was upgraded to 3.8 liters and 450 bhp output. Equipped with shorter gears for quicker acceleration and harnessed by improved roadholding, the 997 GT3 RS 3.8 also delivered improved aerodynamic downforce for an intense and highly focused driving experience. Other race-bred GT3 RS features included a wider body and track, including the front and rear axles of the car. The GT3 RS also featured a unique Porsche Active Suspension Management setup, 9" wheels mounting 245/35 ZR 19 tires up front, and massively wide 12" rear wheels with 325/30 ZR 19 tires. Aerodynamic upgrades included an extra-large carbon-fiber rear wing with aluminum supports, plus dynamic engine mounts and an optional lightweight lithium-ion battery. Weighing just 1,370 kilograms (3,020 pounds), the 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 3.8 was capable of tremendous performance on all levels, including a 194 mph top end.

Built during October 2010, this 2011 GT3 RS 3.8 was purchased new by a prominent Northeastern collector, who held the car until it was acquired by the consignor in 2016. It has not been raced or tracked, and remains impeccable inside and out. Factory-installed features and options include a front-axle lifting system, Sound Package Plus, cup holders, dynamic cornering lights, Bluetooth phone interface, floor mats in interior color, and universal audio interface. With the ideally paired color combination of Code 7A1 Grey Black paint accented by Guards Red graphics, wheels, and more, this GT3 RS is exciting from every angle. The dry sump 450 hp, 3.8-liter Mezger engine and six-speed manual gearbox benefit from consistent maintenance and care, and the black leather interior and Alcantara seats show no significant signs of use.

One of just 541 examples produced for 2011, and accompanied by its window sticker, dealer and service documentation, and owner’s manuals, this stellar 997 GT3 RS is a stunning example of a true race-inspired legend, and stands ready to thrill its next caretaker.
