In 1919 Siddeley-Deasy was bought out by Armstrong Whitworth Development Company of Newcastle upon Tyne and became the Armstrong Siddeley Motors subsidiary. it wasn’t long before its cars attracted Royal patronage, customers even including the Duke of York (later King George VI). Armstrong Siddeley manufactured luxury cars, and later, aircraft engines. In 1935, J. D. Siddeley’s interests were purchased by Hawker Aircraft to form Hawker Siddeley, a famous name in British aircraft production. Armstrong Siddeley produced their last cars in 1960.
The car on offer here is believed to have started its life as a 15hp saloon and was purchased by the current owner to convert into a saloon tourer, similar to the Redfern by Maltby also for sale in this auction.
