Per a copy of the Mercedes-Benz factory data card, this 300 Cabriolet D ‘Adenauer’ is believed to have been built for the United States market. Delivered to New York sporting a red leather interior and black soft-top roof, it was first registered in December 1953.
Included in the accompanying history file, previous registration documents show that the car belonged to an owner in Vedbæk, north of Copenhagen, Denmark from August 2007. Returning to its home country, the Mercedes-Benz was purchased by the consigning owner and submitted to classic vehicle specialist Mario Schrank of Die Oldtimermanufaktur in Kaltennordheim-Fischbach, Germany for a total restoration. The car was refinished in its current dark blue hue, the interior retrimmed in attractive beige hide with wood trim, and a new convertible roof installed. The corresponding invoice details that the work, completed in December 2020, totalled some €157,165.
This 300 Cabriolet D not only presents beautifully following its rebuild but further touts its matching-numbers straight-six engine.
